During WWII a man called Bob Fletcher took care of the farms of three Japanese American families while they were interned. Bob kept their farm running, paid taxes and mortgages until they returned despite being shot at for supporting them.

He was an agriculture inspector from California who quit his job during World War II to help the families.

Doris Taketa, who was twelve when Fletcher agreed to run her family farm in 1942, said, “He saved us.”

Bob Fletcher passed in 2013. He was 101 years old.
