In the 1800s, Hong Xiuquan, from China failed the civil service exam. He fell ill and had the time to read a Christian Pamphlet and hallucinated that he was Jesus’ Chinese brother. He then led a cult that conquered much of Southern China and crowned himself as the King.

His name was Hong Xiuquan and he led a peasant rebellion that lasted 19 years and caused the deaths of at least 10 million people.
